Basement renovations moving along

Here are some updated photos of the basement renovation we’re doing in County Club of the South. On the left is the theater room and the other photo is the soon-to-be kitchen. In keeping with being “green friendly,” we are using low VOC paints and stains for this project.

It's Green Friendly!®

Green Friendly Homes is introducing a new standard you’ll be seeing quite frequently: “It’s Green Friendly!” Simply put, you’ll see this logo on products we’ve used on our own projects that have provided great performance and live up to our company’s standards of “being green.” In addition to products we use, you’ll see this used on our floorplans and other designs.

Another Green Friendly Homes mark is “Certified Green Friendly®.” This will be in the form of a label seen on products in your new Green Friendly home...from the HVAC unit to the tankless water heater...these are tried and true quality products that we, at Green Friendly Homes, believe are in line with our mission statement of incorporating fresh designs, green friendly features and a healthier lifestyle.

Obama plots green jolt to the economy

In an article running in yesterday’s New York Times, President-elect Barack Obama is planning a green-jobs program that would include “the weatherizing of hundreds of thousands of homes” and “the installation of ‘smart meters’ to monitor and reduce home energy use.” To read the full article, go to http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28041978/.

Since its inception three years ago, Green Friendly Homes has been extolling the virtues of “greening” your home. With the current state of the economy and the oil crisis this past summer and fall, now is the perfect time to start taking advantage of the tax credits available and watch your electricity use spiral downward. From higher SEER HVAC systems to icynene insulation to tankless water heaters, Green Friendly Homes can help you upgrade your current home to greener standards. You can check out our Home Finishes link on our website to see some of our finished projects and a list of just a few of the optional green elements we can use on your remodel/renovation project.

If you are interested in a new home that is “green” from the ground up, check out our new home plans on our Projects page. Green Friendly Homes works with the U.S. Green Building Council and LEED for Homes during the planning phase of new homes to ensure we’re meeting their high standards for this green certification.

New Renovation Starting...

We're starting a new renovation project on this home in Country Club of the South. Right now, we are finishing their basement. We’ve started by replacing the brick on the fireplace with stone. Next, we'll be putting brick on the front of the house. More photos as we progress!

New Rolling Billboards

Caleb and Nick sure are proud of their new truck tailgates! These were installed on Friday...they really look great! They feature the Green Friendly Homes logo and website with a big leaf in the background. If you see them around, make sure you honk or wave!

Renovations that will make you breathe easier...

Not looking for a new home? Green Friendly Homes can update your current living space. We recently finished this full basement space for the Cox family. We worked with them to create a retreat for everyday use and entertaining friends. We transformed this completely unfinished space into a modern space with a kitchen/English pub, TV/media room and a children's play area.

Norcross Art Festival 2008

This was our day this past Saturday (and Sunday) at the Norcross Art Festival. We shared the booth with Peggy Slappey Properties since they are representing Green Friendly Homes. As you can see, Laura is busy drumming up business and smiling for those perusing the table...the Platinum Advisor was taking a rest. :-)

Our lot signs have been installed

We've been looking at these signs on paper all summer and now they are finally on-site! Boy do they look really GREAT! The colors are very vivid. The traffic will be going slow past this block in Norcross (there are stop signs on both corners) so you can't help but see them when you drive by. They were fabricated just in time -- James picked them up on Friday afternoon. He wasn't thrilled with the 6x6 posts and the fact that the "ground was like concrete." Between James, Caleb and Nick, they are now solidly in the ground.

Lot 1: The Tranquil Oak

We've completed an artist’s rendering of our first elevation for Lot 1 named “The Tranquil Oak.” We’re headed to the Norcross Art Festival this weekend to unveil Green Friendly Homes. We’ll be sharing a booth with Peggy Slappey Properties...come and see us! We’ll give you a map to the property where we will have our new lot signs installed. We’ll have some pictures of the event posted on Monday.

The site plan for our first community

Here we go with the initial site plan for our first community, Water Oaks Landing... appropriately named for the abundance of water oaks on the property. We have four lots with shared driveways that split for garage access to each home. Large paver stones will lead you from the sidewalk to the front door of your new green friendly home. Our architect is still busy drawing plans and elevations for the home designs so we'll have those up when they are ready. We are excited about having the site plan ready (remember: it is an artist's concept, so actual construction may vary)! If you'd like a closer view, please e-mail us at info@greenfriendlyhomes.com and we'll be happy to send you a full-color PDF of the site plan.
